Travelling Man

Got to the airport, exhausted, at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, and in S.F. boarded a 747-400 jumbo jet. First class seats in the bubble at the top made it seem like a four star hotel. And the gorgeous blonde sitting by herself behind me didn't hurt either!

Popped and Ambien for the 11 hour flight to Beijing and slept most of the way.

Arrived late afternoon in Beijing. The airport is incredible. Just completed for the Olympics. Architecture and size are both astonishing. Bussed to Crown Plaza hotel, for a little shower time and a glass of pretty good white wine.

Towers, Heidi and I went exploring down the shopping walking boulevard. Lots of Chinese people here! A soldier is stationed, grim-faced, about every 100 yards, but otherwise it might have been Times Square.

Went down a couple shopping alleys and saw bizarre stuff, like skewered scorpions wiggling on sticks. Mmmmm. Mouth-watering! And beaucoup tourist junk.

Ate at the hotel. WOnderful food. CHinese, of course. Everyone was eye-rolling tired at that point. Hit the rack at about 8:30 last night. Got right to sleep. That is until Colomba rang me up at 4:00 a.m. Beijing time!!! Ah. Colomba!

Anyway, off to the Great Wall today. WIll figure out how to post pictures later.
